WREC Becomes the First Purple Heart Electric Cooperative in the Nation

WREC’s General Manager, David Lambert, proudly signed the official proclamation naming Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative the very first Purple Heart Electric Cooperative in the nation! We are truly honored to receive this distinction and deeply proud to stand in support of our veterans and Purple Heart recipients who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. As a Purple Heart Cooperative, Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative proudly honors and recognizes the men and women who were wounded or killed in combat while serving our country. This designation, similar to a Purple Heart City or Community, reflects a local commitment to acknowledging the service and sacrifice of Purple Heart recipients and their families. For WREC, this honor demonstrates our ongoing dedication to veterans throughout our service territory. It symbolizes our respect, our gratitude, and our promise to support and recognize the heroes who have given so much for the freedoms we enjoy. Being a Purple Heart Cooperative is more than a title; it’s our pledge to stand with those who have sacrificed for our nation.
