Weeki Wachee High School Environmental Awareness

Thursday, April 24, 2014

On April 24 the Cooperative was represented at Weeki Wachee High School's annual Environmental Awareness Event by Ron Lawson and Gary Steele. This was the event's second year and it was organized by teachers and students from the environmental sciences classes. It was open to all students and parents and was a huge success! We look forward to participating for many years to come.

WREC employees volunteered their time to construct a mini version of a single-phase de-energized electrical distribution line.

By building a training facility, students will be able to take a “hands on” approach to the materials and equipment we use every day.

Students who complete the 3 year program will receive an Energy Industry Certification and hopefully, a future job in this industry.

We are very proud to have had this opportunity to work with Weeki Wachee High School and provide them with a program and training facility that will enhance the careers for students who participate in this program.
