Operation Round-Up provides assistance to Members in our community who, through no fault of their own, have suffered a catastrophic event. This program allows participating Members to have their energy bill rounded up to the nearest dollar. The difference is donated to Operation Round-Up. One hundred percent of the donations are used to help our Members. The average contribution is only fifty cents per month.
Meet the Lutzker family from Wesley Chapel. Their daughter Hailee (17-years-old) was taken to the emergency room six times in 2018 due to extreme headaches.
A CAT scan performed in November of 2018 revealed an abnormality. She was transferred to John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital where she was diagnosed with Junior Ostracized Fibroma (a tumor on the brain). She underwent multiple surgeries: one surgery to remove the growth and replace the bone with titanium, and a second surgery to replace that with plates, screws, and mesh.
With high medical bills and the reduction of income caused by taking off work to care for their daughter, the Lutzker family fell behind on their rent. They recently received a 3-day eviction notice from their landlord. They would have been homeless with no place to go without the help of your generous donations to this worthwhile program.
Hailee is now back home and recovering. Mr. Lutzker is working full-time again. Hailee depends on the support of her parents and continues with follow-up visits with her doctor. Thanks to Operation Round-Up and the Members who participate in this program, she can rest comfortably in her home as she continues to recuperate from this unfortunate situation.
The Lutzker family and WREC thanks everyone who participates in Operation Round-Up. If you do not currently participate, please consider joining this wonderful program to help a Member in need.
