WREC Angel Tree Program Donates Christmas Gifts to Local Schools/Organizations

Posted: December 23, 2020

2020 had been a challenging one for all of us, but it did not dampen our spirit as we entered the Christmas Season.  Under the adversity of the covid-19 outbreak, which has disrupted everyone’s life to some degree, we remained hopeful and joyous as Christmas drew near.

Every year WREC employees donate their time and money to help local children receive Christmas presents who would not have normally.  Our Angel Tree Program this year raised over $8,000 from employees, and with a generous match by General Manager Billy E. Brown, brought the total to over $16,000.  This money was used to buy clothing and toys for over 100 children from various schools and organizations in WREC’s service area.  These gifts were given to four elementary schools (New River, Fox Hollow, Rock Crusher, Lacoochee) and one organization (Salvation Army).

WREC was proud to be able to bring some joy to those in our community as we came to the end of a tumultuous 2020.  We look forward to a better and safer 2021, and a big thank you to all of our generous employees who donated to this worthy cause to help Co-op families in need. We hope you and your families had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
