Empowering our future leaders—WREC’s Educational Foundation awards scholarships to eligible high school seniors who are dependents of WREC Members.

Since 1997, we’ve supported thousands of students with over $21.1 million in scholarships toward in-state colleges, universities, and technical schools.

WREC Educational Foundation, Inc. - Making a sound investment in young adults, and the community.

WREC is proud to award scholarships to 130 high school seniors! Applications are open from October 1st to March 1st and are available to all WREC High School Seniors who are dependents of a WREC Member. Since 1997 the WREC Educational Foundation has awarded 2,634 scholarships with a potential pay out of more than $21.1 million to high school seniors who live within our service area, and plan to attend an in-state, accredited college, university, or technical school.

Applications are now closed and will open for the 2026 - 2027 school year on October 1, 2026.

Successful candidates will receive $1,500 per semester (maximum $12,000) for undergraduate studies. Applications are available at any WREC office or your Guidance Counselor's office and are available to download here starting October 1, 2025. Completed applications must be returned to WREC Educational Foundation, P.O. Box 278, Dade City, FL 33526-0278. Applications must be postmarked by the deadline date to be consider. The screening and recommendation of candidates will be at the discretion of a committee designated by WREC.

Once the application is completed and you have all of the required documents please mail it to WREC Educational Foundation, P.O. Box 278, Dade City, FL 33526-0278. The WREC Educational Foundation Scholarship must be post marked by March 1, 2026.  For any questions pertaining to the application please email scholarship@wrec.net. Please note that the sooner WREC receives your application the quicker we can make sure we have received all required documents so please do not wait until the deadline to submit your application. 

The WREC Educational Foundation was established as a result of a Bylaw change approved by the membership in 1995. The provision allows funds that would have been escheated to the State of Florida to be used in a ‘qualified educational charity’.
