WREC was honored to take part in the 20th Annual Purple Heart Ceremony this weekend, standing with our community to recognize the brave men and women who were wounded or gave their lives in service to our nation.

Gary Steele, our Manager of Member Relations and a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, spoke on what it means for WREC to be the first Purple Heart Electric Cooperative in the nation. This designation is a promise to honor, remember, and support our local heroes.

As part of this commitment, WREC has added designated veteran parking at all cooperative offices as a visible reminder of our gratitude.

Thank you to the Aaron A. Weaver Chapter 776, Military Order of the Purple Heart, and the Nature Coast Community Band for a meaningful morning of remembrance.

These heroes deserve to be honored. They deserve to be welcomed. And at WREC, they always will be.
