Hurricane Debby made a significant impact on our service area on August 4th, with both coastal and inland flooding posing serious concerns. Despite these challenges, WREC crews swiftly restored power to over 38,000 Members by the evening of August 5th, leaving only a few outages remaining.

For safety reasons, we closely monitored coastal areas and proactively disconnected accounts in the Masons Creek area of Old Homosassa due to hazardous water levels. As soon as the waters receded, we worked diligently with these Members to safely reconnect their accounts.

By the following day, power was fully restored to all affected Members. Our dedicated crews then proceeded to assist our Northern Co-op partners at Central Florida Electric Cooperative in the Chiefland area with their restoration efforts.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our linemen for their exceptional dedication and hard work, and to our Members for their patience and understanding during this time.
